[McMahon] John Wall has a total of 50 points in his first two games after a two-year layoff. The last player to do that, per @EliasSports: the Washington Wizards' Michael Jordan in 2001.

I imagine there hasn't been that many players with a 2 year layoff
Literally nobody else, the season suspension is the only reason he waited two whole years
[–][PHI] Robert Covington sjekky 57
Plenty of players who drop to the g league or go to Europe that result in 2 year layoffs. Obviously unlikely that they'll get 50 in their first two games back, but that says more about how good Wall has been
[–][POR] Rasheed Wallace FeelsGR8bb 10
Playing in the G league or Europe isn't a "layoff." They're still playing professional basketball at some level.
[–][HOU] James Harden SCREWST0N[S] 1
My point was mostly that he was gone for SO DAMN long. To do what hes doing is a testament to modern medicine. 730 days without playing and he drops 22 and 28 when he's back? Its pretty crazy imo.
Really nice to see Wall and Durant look similar to how they were before their injuries. Not sure if there's been some advancements in achilles injury recovery but guys in both basketball and football seem to be recovering better from it. Hopefully this becomes the norm and not the exception for achilles injuries.
[–]Minneapolis Lakers markmyredd 75
Probably just better recovery therapies.
[–]Mavericks DTX41 14
Member when ACLs were the end all of players? That was like 10 years ago. Medicine works fast relatively speaking
[–]Pensarenvolver 150
maybe the key was just a long ass time without playing
[–]Slow Crates 9
Let's not crown him the comeback player of the year just yet. Lots of players come back strong from significant time off only to get hurt again because their bodies just weren't as strong as they were before hand. He's playing great, let's just hope he stays healthy.
[–]Knicks iksnet 67
Klay coming for that distinction next season
[–]Lakers Mr_Alex19 20
In the first quarter.

John Wall. Welcome back king, fuck you to all those slanderous posts that questioned his work ethic and love for the game.
“He got his money, he doesn’t care”
This sub absolutely shat on wall nonstop for years. So many haters lol
[–]Washington Bullets PetrolPumpingRat[ ] 216
Anyone who knew anything about John knew that wasn't true. Dude is a basketball nerd who eats, sleeps, and breaths the game. He parties on the side but who cares?
[–]Mavericks Xmauler 151
Yeah he also hangs out with the hottest dudes, wears the freshest clothes, etc.
[–]Trynabecarti 29
Who wouldn’t with that nba money
John wall is my favorite storyline of the yr so far. I legit thought there was no chance hed be anything close to what he was before and yet he looks as good as ever. Its incredible
[–]Rockets LightSkinDarylMorey 502
Wizards gave us Wall and a FRP for Westbrook
Not bad for a rookie GM
Wizards shouldn’t of traded him
[–][TOR] Delon Wright DelonWright 27
Let alone for Russ lmao
[–][HOU] James Harden SCREWST0N[S] 23
My only question moving forward would be his durability lol, but I agree. He was one of my fav players and I was hoping for a 80% return to form as a dream scenario. He even seems better than before in some ways (his shot has improved).
Man is legitimately still at an all star level
Not sure if he’ll make the team due to how good everyone is but definitely playing like one
[–]Hawks feignapathy 10
Ya, the point guard position is kind of stacked for All Star selection. He might not make the ASG.
Gonna be an HTown legend
[–]Rockets Markezzy 13
He’s honestly perfect for this city honestly. Personality would fit right in.
So Harden stays?
I think he does. It’s his team after all and they look way more balanced this year. I think that you could even argue that this team can be as good as the 2018 Rockets as long as they stay healthy.
[–]Lakers StoneColdAM 4
Harden: “Maybe Houston ain’t so bad... isn’t that right, strippers?”
Strippers: “Harden, honey, we love you...”
Harden: “Shut up baby, I know it!”
[–]Spurs Merpninja 137
While their ceiling is really high, I wouldn't say they could be as good as the 2018 rockets. You could argue that is the best team to not win a title, they were an all time great team that got hurt and ran into the greatest team of all time .
Wood is the x factor. He has shown flashes of being all star calibre. He could be a way better 3rd man than anyone on the 18 squad.
[–]Rockets timmysp 35
If he's the x factor then he's got to elevate to the 2nd option. That means getting better on defense and maintaining his current scoring averages. John wall feels more like the 3rd man but idgaf if they both work their asses off every night on both ends of the floor.
[–]Tampa Bay Raptors arvtovi 155
Wall and Wood could turn into one of the best trios Harden got on the Rockets.
He and KD have looked solid; gives me hope that Klay will come back fine.
How's Boogie looked?
[–][CHI] Derrick Rose ChiRoseOne 757
Not as good.
[–][MIA] Harold Miner paradoxofchoice 102
Likely due to suffering two other serious injuries since tearing his Achilles.
[–]Warriors las-vegas-raiders 94
He still looks slow like he did for the Warriors. He doesn't have the same lift or lateral movement anymore.
[–]Rockets AbedAbedAbedAbeeeed 366
I think it’s going to take him longer to get back into game shape and whatnot, but Boogie’s game has never relied on athleticism.
Unfortunately he was always a little slow laterally to begin w/, so permanent dip here could have an outsized impact on his defense playability.
He may have never relied a lot on his athleticism but a lot of boogies game was isolating on slower bigs on the perimeter. After all his injuries I don’t think he has that same capability anymore. And he’s never been a really reliable shooter. It sucks because prime boogie had potential to be one of the best bigs ever. But the injury gods said no.
[–][HOU] James Harden H-TownDown 335
He’s slow, and he can’t jump. It’s way easier to defend him in the paint due to his lack of verticality.
[–]Registered to Vote ablackcloudupahead 188
I think mentally there's probably a block too that stops him from going full force.
[–]Rockets AntiquatedHippo 529
I don't mean to be dramatic but I would literally die for John Wall
[–]Wizards Adams-Breath 142
Treat him right
[–]Wizards happyflappypancakes 5
Hes a wizkid forever. Tbis is literally the first time ive ever rooted for another team to do well. Hope the Rockets fuck shit up.
[–]San Diego Rockets blueberryy 123
I remember people told me Wall wouldn't be much of an upgrade on defense over Westbrook but the mere fact that he tries and pays attention to what's going on makes him a much better defender lol
[–]Rockets splanket 12
I thought he would be an upgrade solely by taking fewer shots, but he’s actually a legit upgrade in all facets
I miss him
I miss him, but I am glad he's not in DC anymore. Don't want him to waste any more years here, hope gets more spotlight playing for the Rockets.
[–]Super 8 usmntidiot 15
Shot selection has been the only part of his game holding him back. He’ll never put up stupid efficient seasons like KD or Lebron but if he can stay above 45% from the field and stay healthy, Rockets got a steal.
[–]Rockets Gankgasm 10
It’s really satisfying that we seem to have won a trade despite these drama filled few months. I love Westbrook and loved watching him live before covid but man it’s nice to be a fan from afar again lol.
[–]Wizards GVIrish 22
I hate that he got traded but I wish him the best. I'm gonna be real salty if Westbrook doesn't work out though, and Beal leaves.
[–]Thunder moneybooy[S] 302
I'm still optimistic that your team will improve with Russ. Getting rid of Brooks is a must, without him the team will be much better
[–]Lakers ragelark 118
Everywhere Russ goes, it’s always always the coach.
Bro he’s had like three coaches and no one blamed dantoni
Brooks needed to go years before Russ got here.
